Common Q&A; for Teachers
Who gives YEBW school presentations?
Troy Coady, YEBW’s program manager, manages YEBW school and teacher relationships and conducts all student presentations.
Are there any costs?
No – YEBW provides school presentations free of charge. Our goal is to educate students about the importance of staying in school, how to stand out from the crowd, and to share opportunities to enhance their business education and future success.
What kinds of classes and age groups does YEBW typically present to?
Students from all backgrounds and with all interests can benefit from YEBW. We have given school presentations to English, Economics, Marketing, and Health classes, to name a few. Presentations are typically best received when the time allotment is between 35-45 minutes, but presentations can be tailored to fit smaller or larger time allotments.
When does YEBW provide school presentations?
YEBW provides school presentations from October – May.
What will my students get out of a YEBW presentation? What concepts are covered?
YEBW school presentations are focused on being educational, interactive, and engaging. A typical presentation discusses opportunities for high school students (including YEBW, DECA, and FBLA), college admissions expectations and methods to enhance skills, and the value of education and experience in careers.
There is a cost associated with YEBW. Why should I help advertise a program that some of my students might not be able to afford to attend?
Aside from the $500 corporate sponsorships that each Oregon/SW Washington student receives, YEBW has a generous financial assistance program in place. YEBW staff does everything in its power to ensure that all students can attend the programs, regardless of financial situation.
Are there opportunities for educators to participate in YEBW?
Yes – there may be opportunities available for educators at YEBW programs. If you are interested, please contact YEBW directly to discuss your involvement.
Does YEBW provide any in-school programming?
At this time, YEBW does not provide in-school programming outside of school presentations. Our focus is on our summer programming, but that might change as the organization grows and expands.
